USPTA Pro 1 Matt Watson is the director of tennis at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. “I am fortunate to have my dream job,” he says. “My goal is to continue to build an excellent program and provide the best service possible.”
Matt says he fell in love with tennis as a child. “Then I fell in love with sharing that with other people,” he says. “I love the interaction with others and seeing the enjoyment on their faces when they are on the court.”
As a player, Matt was a two-time high school All-American, a collegiate conference champion and three-time NCAA Division II national qualifier. He also was the 2000 5.0 USTA League Tennis National Champion.
Matt graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, Kan., with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Before working for Colonial, he was the head tennis professional at Richland Tennis Center in North Richland Hills, Texas.
Outside of tennis, Matt enjoys golf, skiing, reading and spending time with family and friends.
